W. A. "Bill" Rose became an insurance repair specialist while working for his father's construction company, A.H. Rose Co., and established his own general contracting firm W.A. Rose Co. in 1936. Bill was very selective in hiring all personnel and demanding high quality work and thus gained the confidence and appreciation of the insurance adjusters in the field. He built his reconstruction business on hard work, friendships he established, and by providing reliable service. His staff of estimators, project managers, and excellent carpenters enabled him to expand into alterations and remodeling, while still continuing to service the insurance repair field. W.A. Bill Rose’s wife, Alma, recently sold the company to Dan Pitcock, the second generation owner of Roberts Electric. W.A. Rose Co. and Roberts Electric have been doing business together for close to 50 years. Bill and Alma worked with Dan’s parents, the past owners of Roberts, and have known Dan nearly all his life. Dan’s high level of integrity and deep understanding of the business reminded Alma of her late husband, Bill. Dan saw the purchase as an opportunity to keep a great Oakland construction company open, and build upon its long history of quality work.
